Archie H. Bowman went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven on September 29, 2019.

Archie, who was nicknamed Buddy, now enjoys the amazing splendor of heaven, being in the presence of God and in the company of all of his beloved family and friends who have arrived there before him. His spouse of 67 years, Sylvia Raye Bowman had moved on to heaven before him last year on May 8, 2018.

Buddy was born on February 17, 1931 to Albert and Mary Bowman in Houston, Texas and had 2 brothers, Ernest and Jimmy, and 1 sister, Mary Ruth. Buddy grew up on their family ranch in Texas and even rode his horse to school. At the young age of 6, Buddy asked Jesus to be his Lord and Savior and lived his entire life displaying Christian values. At the age of 15 his family moved to Natchez, Mississippi. After high school, Buddy met and married the love of his life, Sylvia Hudson. The two young lovebirds married at ages 19 and 18 and were married for over 67 years at the time of Sylvia’s death. Buddy and Sylvia have 3 children, Dave, Ted, and Donna. They were also blessed with granddaughter Ashley, and great grandchildren Kyler, Lukas and Koralynn. Their extended family also includes their beloved Carol Bowman, Yulia Bowman, Nick Bartlett, and Rodney Haux.

Buddy joined the Navy and served our country on a Navy ship during the Korean War. After Honorably completing his military service, Buddy began his career as a Mechanic and Millwright. He worked on an oil rigger in the Gulf Coast and at several large Aluminum manufacturing companies during his long career. Buddy was an extremely skilled mechanic and metal fabricator. He loved repairing and creating things in his garage. He was a very talented and skilled craftsman and handyman. He was the family member, friend, and neighbor that everyone brought their broken items and vehicles to for repair. He never turned anyone down, but happily fixed whatever needed fixing. He was a both a hard worker on physical labors and a highly intelligent analytical thinker, always reading a Biblical commentary or discussing Biblical theology with others. He was an ordained Baptist Deacon who put God first in his life, and family a close second. He had a heart for Missions work and supported them at every opportunity. After the passing of his wife, he moved to the Good Samaritan Independent Living Apartments in the Spokane Valley and enjoyed meeting many new wonderful friends. Buddy was a quiet and calm man who would always greet you with a smile and happy hello.

What a glorious welcome he must have received upon entering heaven and seeing Jesus. We know that a wonderful and joyous reunion of family and friends is currently taking place in heaven. We who remain, are sad to have lost him, but take comfort knowing that we will see him again one day and enjoy his smiling face and bright blue sparkling eyes. Until we meet again, we will cherish our loving memories of him.
